Relapse the Musical takes place within the group therapy session of a behavioral ward. When it is revealed that one of them is ready to move on to the next leg of their mental health journey, they each begin to look inward, comparing their own healing to those around them. Meanwhile, their intrusive thoughts become physicalized in a “Greek Chorus”, feeding off their inner turmoil and pitting their vulnerabilities against each other. However, they learn with connection, compassion, and empathy, it is easier to keep those thoughts at bay and not feel so alone on this lifelong journey.
